Cultural Essay Topics - How to Choose the Right Topics
The purpose of cultural essay topics is to start you thinking about how you can include a bit of your native culture into your academic essay. We often think of some parts of our culture in our academic writing, but sometimes it is appropriate to also include a bit of the opposite culture.
Just because one's culture is not the dominant culture in a given country does not mean that one does not have to be aware of it. It is normal to identify yourself with one's culture. Some Americans who come from the Midwest for instance are well-versed in their culture. They may even feel proud of their heritage and what it means to them.
You don't need to own up to your heritage if you have no use for it in a specific context, but you should make yourself aware of the beliefs, customs, and values that come from your culture. You should also have a sense of pride in being part of a particular group, such as your family, your school, or the people you meet in your community.
